Erath County grand jury indicts young woman for manslaughter in deadly shooting.
An Erath County grand jury on Thursday indicted a woman accused of shooting and killing a young man in Stephenville.
Lorena Miranda was indicted for manslaughter, a second degree felony, in connection with the death of 23-year-old Devonte Johnson of Maine.
Details of what transpired inside a home in Stephenville where Johnson was killed are outlined in an arrest warrant that charges the then 20-year-old Miranda.
According to a copy of the arrest warrant, obtained by Beneath the Surface News, the Stephenville Police Department responded to a call in the 300 block of S. Lillian Ave. shortly before midnight on April 3.
The call referenced a male subject suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck.
He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

When police arrived, they found two other people inside the home; one identified as Miranda who claimed the shooting was accidental.
The following is a condensed version of the arrest warrant.
“Devonte had been visiting as a guest when Lorena showed Devonte a handgun that she was using for protection.
“Lorena said she had picked the gun up off the bed and turned toward Devonte to show the gun to him.
“Lorena said as she turned toward Devonte with the gun in her hand, the gun fired and the shot struck Devonte in the left side of his neck.”
Police also discovered cocaine inside a desk in the bedroom and learned that the gun was reportedly stolen from Killeen.
Miranda was also indicted for possession of cocaine.
She was released from the Erath County Jail in May after posting a $100,000 bond.
