If you have been thinking about adding a furry friend to your family, now would be a great time to do it.
With 86 dogs and 97 cats, the Erath County Humane Society is bursting at the seam.
The animal shelter is stepping up its adoption effort by offering an adoption special through Friday, July 2.
“We are drowning here and need some help,” ECHS executive director Serena Wright told Beneath the Surface News.
The adoption special includes $10 for cats, $25 for puppies and unaltered dogs and $50 for spayed or neutered dogs.
The ECHS is also offering a $10 microchipping special next week.
The drive-thru event will be held from 2-6 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and 3-6 p.m. on Wednesday.
“Lots of animals go missing during July 4th celebrations because of the fireworks,” Serena said. “Microchipping helps get them home faster.”
