Ring camera catches suspects in early morning vehicle break-ins.

Stephenville police are investigating a smelly string of vehicle break-ins that happened early Wednesday morning on Bluebonnet Street.

Captain Jeremy Lanier said belongings from at least three unlocked vehicles were stolen.

“I expect that number to climb as the day progresses,” Lanier told Beneath the Surface News.

“Unfortunately, this is a fairly common occurrence where people go down the street and pull on door handles until they find one that’s unlocked.”

Bethany Johnson resides in the area and her Ring camera caught one of the suspects hiding behind her husband’s truck as a vehicle passed.

“The cops were going door-to-door this morning asking for camera footage,” Bethany said.

“Our vehicles were locked so nothing was stolen, but one of my neighbors had a bunch of napkins stolen that he used to wipe with when he took a poo by the car.”

Gross.

Lanier said camera footage shows at least two male suspects were involved.

“I would just remind people to lock their doors and don’t leave valuables in plain sight,” Lanier said.
