Katherine Noy loves animals, so when she was awarded a $500 grant from Random Acts of Kindness, an overseas non-profit organization, she did what came naturally – donated the money to the Erath County Humane Society.
Katy’s mother Devon Serio reached out to Beneath the Surface News about the story.
“I have a 25-year-old high-functioning autistic daughter named Katy that applied for and was awarded a $500 grant from Random Acts of Kindness and has chosen to gift all of the money to the Erath County Humane Society,” Devon wrote in a Facebook message.
“This was a very difficult task for Katy to accomplish. She has extreme anxiety for telephone calls and especially Zoom interviews.
“However, she was quite determined to push through to help all the animals waiting and hoping for a home.”
On Saturday, Katy delivered much-needed supplies to the shelter that included paper towels, cleaning supplies and animal food.
“We are very thankful for this young woman who took initiative and stepped out of her comfort zone to help the animals at Erath County Humane Society,” ECHS executive director Serena Wright said.
“She is setting a wonderful example for the community. Thank you, Katy!”
