Tracy Morgan once said, “Bad news travels at the speed of light; good news travels like molasses.”
Let’s change that.
I think we are all exhausted by the negativity that permeates our social media and news feeds, leaving us feeling depleted, scared and divided.
So, so divided.
I was watching the news in Austin last week and saw a report about a cute kid who dressed up as his school security guard for “Super Hero Day.”
The reporter said how much she liked starting the weekend with a positive story, and I thought, “Why can’t I do that?”
And that’s when the idea of “Good Stuff Fridays” took root.
Every week, Beneath the Surface News will highlight something good happening in the area, something we can all celebrate.
But I need your help.
Perhaps you know a couple whose longtime marriage deserves to be publicly celebrated, an employee who always goes the extra mile for customers, a thoughtful child, a good Samaritan who likes to pay it forward, a good deed that has gone unnoticed.
Maybe you were having a bad day and someone’s kindness - a neighbor, your nail tech, a waitress or complete stranger - cheered you up.
The stories are endless, so please help me share them.
If you have something or someone you want featured on Good Stuff Fridays, send the information to sara@beneaththesurfacenews.com.
I hope my inbox is soon flooded with positivity.
