One of this week’s featured pets up for adoption at the Erath County Humane Society is Wednesday, a six to seven-year-old shepherd mix.
“Wednesday is the kind of dog that reminds you why we love dogs in the first place,” ECHS executive director Serena Wright told Beneath the Surface News.
“She is a gentle, affectionate soul who just wants to be close to you - literally. Her favorite thing is to bury her head in your lap and soak up all the love she can get.”
Wednesday’s foster parents described her as an “absolute sweetheart;” one that is potty trained, quiet, gentle and cooperative during bath time.
“She never barked unless she was feeling a little left out because she truly just wants to be with her people,” Serena said.
Wednesday was surrendered with four other dogs through no fault of their own.
Despite everything, she's remained sweet, loving and eager to find her forever family.
Wednesday does well on a leash, tolerates a crate and is spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative and partially vaccinated.
(She just needs her rabies vaccine.)
“Wednesday is not just a dog; she's a heart-healer,” Serena said. “Whoever adopts her will be one lucky family.”
Equinox is a sweet two to three-year-old cat that was found as a stray and never reclaimed.
“She hasn't let that dim her loving spirit,” Serena said. “Equinox adores attention and will meow to let you know when she's ready for love.”

She enjoys lounging in cozy spots and will gladly spend the day curled up next to you.
Equinox is spayed, fully vaccinated, dewormed and litter box trained.
