One of this week’s featured pets up for adoption at the Erath County Humane Society is Wilbur, a four to five-year-old Boxer mix with a heart as big as his adorable face.

“Once found scavenging through trash just trying to survive, this sweet boy is now ready to trade the streets for a cozy home full of love,” ECHS executive director Serena Wright told Beneath the Surface News.

“He absolutely adores people and will happily soak up all the attention you have to give.”

Wilbur can be reactive around other dogs and cats, so he may do best as the only pet or with slow, thoughtful introductions.

He's a strong walker and will need a confident handler, but his love for treats makes training fun.

He already knows "sit" and is eager to learn more.

Wilbur is neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped and has started dewormer.

“He is heartworm positive and currently on the slow-kill treatment, meaning he'll need to stay on an ivermectin-based prevention and be retested in about a year,” Serena said.

“We're still learning more about Wilbur every day, but one thing is certain - he's ready to leave his past behind and find a family to love him forever.”

Ursella is a six to seven-year-old domestic shorthair with a gentle heart and quiet charm.

“Surrendered due to her owner's declining health, she's now looking for a calm, loving home,” Serena said.

“She may be a little shy at first, but give her time and you'll see her sweet personality shine.”

Ursella loves perching up high to watch the world go by, and once she feels safe, she'll reward her favorite people with soft affection - even an occasional kiss.

Ursella is spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped and dewormed.
