Two kittens abandoned in cardboard box now up for adoption at Erath County Humane Society.

I'm not sure if this is Rico or Mambo, but he sure is cute!

It’s hard to believe that anyone could stomach leaving a pair of helpless kittens inside a cardboard box, but it happened.

Five-month-old Rico and Mambo were abandoned and are now up for adoption at the Erath County Humane Society.

ECUW executive director Serena Wright told Beneath the Surface News that the kittens are curious little guys and are beginning to warm up to people.

“Mambo is not sure about being held and Rico is very vocal when he sees people, but is still a little shy,” Serena said.

They are both neutered, fully vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped and litter box trained.

They have been at the shelter since November.Tasmania is a four to five-year-old female American Pit Bull Terrier.

“She is extremely people-friendly and good with older kids,” Serena said. “She is decent on a leash, but does pull hard, so she needs a little work in that area.”

Tasmania does not get along with other animals.

She was adopted in 2021 and returned in December because she was going after the neighbor’s cats.

“She was very emaciated when returned, so she may have some resource guarding issues, so should be fed in her own area,” Serena said.

Tasmania does well in a crate and is spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm negative and on prevention.
