The Stephenville Downtown Merchants organization is ringing in the Christmas shopping season with a holiday open house on Friday, Nov. 14.

The festive event is one of my favorites and will include refreshments, entertainment, and of course, the chance to do lots of shopping.

The Erath County courthouse square and downtown plaza are already being decorated for Christmas, beckoning holiday shoppers to keep it local.

KayLee Pemberton, manager of the Blue-Eyed Buffalo, told Beneath the Surface News that participating businesses will host in-store specials, door prizes, drawings and snacks.

“This event is focused on kicking off the holiday shopping season and giving businesses a chance to do something nice for their customers,” she said.

James Kimbel, co-owner of Scott’s Flowers on the Square, which has been in business for 46 years, said Scott’s Flower Cottage (formerly Grant's Plants) started the holiday open house 51 years ago.

The iconic flower shop is already decked out for Christmas and ready to show it off during Friday’s open house.

“This year we are featuring traditional Christmas in our showroom - red and green colors and time proven themes, all with the Scott's Flowers touch,” James said.

“Of course, we create fresh seasonal arrangements every day, and love adding a touch of holiday flavor whenever requested.”

The holiday open house will be held from 5:30-8:30 p.m. on Friday.

See you there!
