An event honoring the late Justin Monk is returning to Erath County in November.
The Monk Strong Memorial is hosting the 3rd annual Justin Monk Festival & Rugged Run from 12-5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at Melody Mountain Ranch.
The event will include live music, cornhole tournament, food trucks, beverage bar, vendors, silent auction, bounce houses, mini farmers market and a 5k, 10k and fun run.

Signups for the cornhole tournament start at noon on the day of the event. The cost to enter is $20.
Justin Monk passed away from Ewing’s Sarcoma in 2023 at only 41 years old.
Today, his family and friends carry on his legacy of helping others by hosting the annual event.
Justin’s sister-in-law Christina Monk told Beneath the Surface News that the Monk Strong Memorial uses proceeds to help others in the community.
“We help individuals in need who are service members – like teachers, healthcare professionals, police officers, fire fighters and members of the military,” Christina said.
“If they need money for groceries or gas or to pay bills, we help. Right now, we are helping the family of a little boy who had an aneurism. His mom is a nurse.”
