Stock those freezers: Terrell Farms kicks off big sale on grassfed beef just in time for spring.

Grilling season is just around the corner (and I know you need to hear that after the past few days we’ve had) and Terrell Farms in Stephenville is celebrating with a Groundhog Day grassfed beef sale through Feb. 28.

In honor of Punxsutawney Phil, Terrell Farms is offering a special to stock your freezer with $200 off beef halves.

“Order a half beef and pay a $500 deposit by February 28, and we’ll work with your schedule as long as you take delivery by June 30; final payment will be due upon delivery,” owner James Terrell told Beneath the Surface News.

The cost is expected to run between $1,000 to $1,500 (based on hanging weight), and should average about $1,300, including processing and delivery within a large swath of Central Texas.

More distant deliveries can be arranged for a fee.

“Our halves usually yield about 175 to 200 pounds of some of the most delicious, tender grassfed beef you will ever eat,” James said. “Terrell Farms will not harvest an animal until they reach at least 30 months of age, assuring lots of marbling and plenty of intermuscular fat.

“In addition, our calves are processed at a fully USDA-inspected plant in Evant and allowed to dry age for 14 days before being cut into steaks, roasts, ribs, brisket and ground beef, guaranteeing maximum flavor and tenderness."

Honey Bee Natural Foods in Stephenville (located behind HEB) now carries Terrell Farms frozen ground beef and offers other cuts by special order.

“We also deliver a half beef every two weeks to C&J Butcher Shop in Granbury where you can buy fresh cuts,” James said.
