The filing period for the March 3 Primary Election is underway now through Dec. 8, and several Erath County officials up for another term have already filed for re-election.
Erath County Judge Brandon Huckabee is seeking his second term.
“It’s been an honor to serve the citizens of Erath County during my first term and help move our county forward in many areas. It has taken partnerships and collaboration from local governments and the public to make that happen and we still have work to do,” Huckabee told Beneath the Surface News.
“That is why I am running again, to continue to plan for the future while we meet the demands of today and I hope we can continue in that spirit for years to come.
“Erath county is special because of the people and I humbly ask for your support as we continue to work to keep it the best place to do business and raise your family.”
Others who have filed for another term include County Court of Law Judge Blake Thompson, District Clerk Wanda Greer, County Clerk Gwinda Jones and County Treasurer Angie Shawver.
District Court Judge Jason said he plans to file for his fourth full term next week.
Chili Alexander, justice of the peace for precincts, 1, 3 and 4, has also filed for re-election, along with David Martin, justice of the peace for precinct 2, who is facing a challenge from Dionicia Azua.
Jim Buck, commissioner of precinct 4, has also filed as well as Albert Ray, commissioner of precinct 2, who is facing a challenge from Dale Spurlen.
No one has filed to run in the Erath County Democratic Party.
