Pickers and Poets coming back to Stephenville Historical House Museum this Sunday.
Special to BENEATH THE SURFACE NEWS
The third installment of the Pickers and Poets song swap series will take place at 4 p.m. this Sunday, Sept. 26, at the Chapel on the Bosque at the Stephenville Historical House Museum grounds.
The series is hosted by Craig Clifford, co-editor of Pickers and Poets: The Ruthless Poetic Singer-Songwriters of Texas.
Most of the shows are song swaps between Clifford and another singer-songwriter, but this show will be a duo show featuring Clifford and Kyle Derr with two guitars and lots of harmonies.
"Kyle, my nephew, and I have been playing together for a couple of decades," Clifford told Beneath the Surface News.
The show will highlight some of the great Texas songwriters featured in the book, including songs by Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark, David Rodriguez, Robert Earl Keen, James McMurtry, Ryan Bingham and (honorary Texan) Jason Isbell.
And, of course, Clifford and Derr will play a few of Clifford's songs.
There's no cover and snacks and drinks provided free of charge, thanks to sponsors like Texstar Kubota, First Financial, Ace Dowell Hardware, Tarleton State University and the Thirty Armadillos Brew Club.
Doors open at 3 p.m. and music starts at 4.
