Huckabay’s assistant fire chief named October’s Erath County Hometown Hero.

Huckabay assistant fire chief Ian McKenzie has been named Erath County's Hometown Hero for the month of October, a monthly award sponsored by Farmers Insurance agent Leslie Walker.

Ian was nominated for the honor by several friends and co-workers who had this to say about him.

“Ian has worked tirelessly to ensure that our volunteer firefighters have the necessary supplies to perform their duties safely and effectively. Whether it's securing equipment or organizing resources, Ian's leadership is invaluable.

“His focus on creating efficient systems has allowed our fire department to operate at its best, ensuring quick responses and seamless teamwork during emergencies. What truly sets Ian apart is his love for our community and his deep belief in taking care of others for all the right reasons.
