CASA for the Cross Timbers Area is launching “cards for CASA,” a project designed to ensure that every child in the foster care system has access to the same everyday experiences as their non-foster peers.
The community is invited to donate gift cards to allow children to choose items that fit their individual needs — whether that’s new clothing, school supplies, toiletries, books or a special treat just for themselves.
This flexibility supports dignity and personal choice, elements that are often limited for youth in the foster care system.
Gift cards most needed include those for clothing and restaurants and general cards like VISA, Walmart, H-E-B, Target, Old Navy, Amazon and other local establishments.
Many children served by CASA are placed in homes outside their home counties, sometimes hours away.
Gas cards are especially helpful in enabling CASA volunteers to maintain consistent, in-person visits — a crucial part of building trust and offering stable, meaningful advocacy.
“While this project gains momentum during the holiday season, these gift cards will support our children and our advocates throughout the entire year,” said CASA executive director Mindy Wooley.
Gift cards can be dropped off at the CASA CTA office, located at 1385 N. Graham Street in Stephenville.
