Dog that has been at the shelter for 6 months and shy cat are this week’s featured pets.

Mitz

One of this week’s featured pets up for adoption at the Erath County Humane Society is Mitz, a four-year-old female American Pit Bull Terrier.

"She is a very sweet girl that loves attention,” ECHS executive director Serena Wright told Beneath the Surface News. “She does well in a crate, but is sometimes vocal about not wanting to be there. She is very energetic and prefers to be outside rather than being cooped up too long.”

Despite her small stature, Mitz is a powerhouse that does not understand her own strength.

She loves a good toy and soft bed, and while in foster care, she got along well with other dogs, but not cats.

A meet-and-greet is recommended for adoptive families.

Mitz is spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped, heart worm negative and on prevention.

She has been at the shelter since June.

Cider is a three-year-old female domestic shorthair.

"She is very shy and will need someone who is patient and willing to give her a chance,” Serena said. “She will hiss when you try to pet her, but doesn't bite.”

Cider will likely do best in a quiet home or as a barn cat.

She is is spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped and litter box trained.
