Cupid is a friendly boy that loves walks, playing fetch and his toys.
One of this week’s featured pets up for adoption at the Erath County Humane Society is Cupid.
“He was adopted from us last year, but was returned after not getting along with the male dog. He's a friendly, excitable boy who is full of wiggles and loves attention,” ECHS executive director Serena Wright told Beneath the Surface News.
“Cupid can get a little jumpy when greeting people, but it's all part of his playful personality.”
Cupid’s previous owners noted that he can be unsure around men and needs time to warm up to new people.
Once he trusts you, though, he's a sweetheart that loves taking walks, playing fetch and spending time with his favorite toys.
Cupid is known to jump fences and dash out open doors, so a secure home is a must.
With patience, consistency and training, he’ll thrive and become a wonderful companion.
“He was reported to be housebroken, but may need a quick refresher after shelter life,” Serena said.
“Cupid does fine in a crate for short periods, although he may try to escape if left too long or gets bored. He walks on leash, but can be a strong puller, so keeping him on a short leash and continuing leash training will help.”
Cupid is good with other dogs, but a meet and greet is always recommended. He is not cat friendly.
Cupid is neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm negative and on prevention.
Rachel is a sweet kitten that arrived at the shelter as a stray.
Now this sweet girl is ready to leave her stray days behind and find a loving family of her own.
“Rachel is an absolute sweetheart who loves attention,” Serena said.
“She enjoys being picked up and is perfectly happy anywhere there is someone nearby willing to give her plenty of affection.
“She is an easygoing, loving girl who will make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a cuddly new best friend.”
Rachel has not been tested with dogs or other cats, so a slow and proper introduction to any pets in the home is recommended.
She is partially vaccinated, spayed and microchipped.
