Construction on Hobby Lobby, Old Navy, Ross, T.J. Maxx, Ulta Beauty and Five Below is underway.

Updated: Aug 23, 2021

Construction is underway on the building that will house T.J. Maxx, Ross, Old Navy and Five Below. Hobby Lobby will be built to the west of this structure (closest to Walmart).

If you blinked, you may have missed it. I know I did.

So imagine my surprise this past weekend when I noticed that construction – and a lot of it – is underway at Washington Commons, Stephenville’s new power center that will house national retailers like Hobby Lobby, Old Navy, Ross, T.J. Maxx, Ulta Beauty and Five Below.

The largest retail development project in the city’s history will include more than 150,000 square feet of retail space expected to open in the first quarter of 2022.

“Construction is a little behind schedule because of weather delays, but crews are beginning to catch up,” Jeff Sandford, executive director of the Stephenville Economic Development Authority, told Beneath the Surface News.

Sandford said the Shoe Dept., currently located at 2790 W. Washington Street, will relocate to Washington Commons as the Shoe Show and that another national retailer coming to Stephenville will be announced soon.

Developers plan to turn over the pad for Hobby Lobby this week to begin construction.

So that’s the latest on this major project happening in the ‘ville!

I hope you are as excited as I am!
