A man accused of developing an inappropriate relationship with a student at Huckabay ISD reportedly “begged” for nude photos of the 13-year-old.
Beneath the Surface News has obtained a copy of the official complaint against Matthew Thompson, the 34-year-old IT director at Huckabay ISD, charged with child grooming and sexual performance by a child.
Following his arrest on Jan. 23, Thompson was immediately placed on administrative leave by Huckabay ISD Superintendent Wes Corzine.
According to the complaint, the Erath County Sheriff’s Office was notified about possible abuse by Texas Department of Family and Protective Services after the alleged victim placed a call to a hotline.
“(The juvenile) stated that she had a partner but they are no longer together because it was dangerous…
“She stated that if people knew they would get in trouble and they both promised to keep their relationship a secret. She stated that they had been close for about a month and had been dating for about a week.
“Her partner had told (the juvenile) that they needed to end their relationship because he would lose his children and his job if they continued seeing each other,” the complaint states.
The agency then contacted the girl’s mother and took the child victim to Paluxy River Children’s Advocacy Center for a forensic interview.
The following excerpts are taken directly from the complaint:
“During the interview (the juvenile) seemed to have a defensive demeanor and denied all knowledge of sex and made no outcry to sexual screening questions.
“However, when questioned about her partner who was identified as Matthew Thompson the director of technology at Huckabay ISD, the school that she attends, she admitted that they had been communicating outside of school for around three months for non-school related matters.
“With consent of (juvenile’s) parents, we seized her phone, her personal laptop and a laptop belonging to Huckabay ISD. Her phone was connected to Cellebrite, a forensic tool to access data inside an electronic device.
“Multiple deleted screenshots showed (the juvenile) and Matthew communicating through Facetime and messenger applications outside of school hours, late into the evenings.
“There were also multiple selfies of Thompson outside of the school premises that had been sent to (the juvenile).”
A text exchange between the two showed a sexually-charged conversation along with several nude photos.
When presented with the evidence, the girl reportedly told authorities that she sent nude photos to Thompson because he was “begging” her to do so, the complaint states.
Thompson is being held at the Erath County Jail on a $180,000 bond.
