The Husband and I are on a mission to learn all we can about wine.

We have toured Bourdeaux France, wineries in Portugal, and most recently, Paso Robles in sunny California.

And these are our big takeaways.

1. The most expensive wines aren’t necessarily the best.

2. Our favorite wines are attached to the memories and people we share them with.

3. Texas wines are seriously underrated.

So when we got an invite last week to a new tasting room in Glen Rose, we jumped at the chance to try it.

Noblemen Wines just moved into the old Bull Lion location on the downtown square. The address is 202 NE Barnard Street.

Owner Victor Eichorn said he and his wife (who grew up in Glen Rose) have a deep passion for wine, particularly Texas varietals.

“We make premium small batch wine from 100% Texas grown grapes,” Victor told Beneath the Surface News.

“To fill out our inventory and menu we're also selling a selection of other amazing Texas wines. There are very few wine merchants like us around. All of our wines come entirely from Texas.”

His tasting room had only been opened a week when we stopped in last Saturday for a tasting.

Victor is super knowledgeable and gave us a great education on the evolution of Texas wines.

He plans to start hosting wine classes, live music and dinner pairings in the near future.

“Our wines pair very well with Texas barbecue,” he joked.

Stop by and check it out.

The tasting room is open Thursday through Sunday.
