With 81 dogs and 50 cats, Erath County Humane Society extends its 50% off adoption event.

The Erath County Humane Society has so many dogs and cats that it’s extending last weekend’s adoption event through the remainder of the week.
“We got eight dogs from a neglect case and animal control has been bringing in lots of stray animals,” ECHS executive director Serena Wright told Beneath the Surface News.
“It’s been pretty rough.”
Only three dogs were adopted during last weekend’s adoption event.
All adoptions are 50% off now through Saturday.
The shelter is closed on Wednesday, but open from 2-6 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and 12-5 p.m. on Saturday.
The shelter also needs bleach, laundry detergent and canned dog and cat food.
The shelter is still trying to secure funding for a new, larger facility.
“We are still working on it; it’s going to happen,” Serena said.
