Winkum-the-cat and Lucy-the-dog are this week’s featured pets. And they are adorable.

This week’s featured pets up for adoption at the Erath County Humane Society include a lovable cat named Winkum.

“Winkum is a two to three-year-old male,” ECHS executive director Serena Wright told Beneath the Surface News. “He is a very vocal boy and loves to talk until he gets attention.

“He hasn't really been around other cats, but hasn't shown any aggression toward his neighbors here at the shelter.”

Winkum in not a fan of over-enthusiastic dogs, but might be OK with a dog that will leave him alone.

He is litter box trained, neutered and microchipped.

Lucy is a five-year-old female Rhodesian Ridgeback/Catahoula mix.

“She is a very sweet girl and does well with dogs, cats, strangers and livestock,” Serena said. “She is used to being outside during the day and crated at night, but would love to spend more time indoors.

“She is good on a leash and has a funny little mohawk.”

Lucy gets a little nervous around men, so would probably do best with a female owner and would thrive in a home with another dog.

She is also microchipped.

You can meet Winkum, Lucy and the other 63 dogs, 30 cats and two rabbits at the animals shelter located at 891 East Road in Stephenville.
