A well-known local businessman was shot and killed Tuesday night in what police say was a murder-suicide.

Sixty-eight-year-old David Bragg, owner of Stephenville City Electric, was shot outside of an apartment complex on Linda Lane.

Emberly Hay lives in a home behind the apartment building and was one of the first to call 9-1-1.

“My husband and I were watching TV in bed when we heard the first gunshot at 9:38 p.m.,” Emberly told Beneath the Surface News.

“We got up and my husband opened the back door and that’s when we heard the second gunshot and I called 9-1-1.”

Emberly began recording on her cell phone from her back porch and a woman can be heard screaming.

“I called 9-1-1 a second time because we could hear a woman yelling ‘Help me!’” she said.

A source familiar with the investigation said Bragg did not live at the apartment building and was there visiting a friend.

The name of the second person who died at the scene has not been released.
