One of this week’s featured pets up for adoption at the Erath County Humane Society is Cupid, a five to six-year-old pit mix.

“He is one of our longest stay pups, and he's more than ready to find his forever home,” ECHS executive director Serena Wright told Beneath the Surface News.

“Cupid is a wiggly, lovable goofball who lives for attention, belly rubs and playtime.

“He's a friendly, excitable boy who may get a little jumpy with greetings, but it's all part of his charm.”

Cupid can be a little unsure around men, but once he develops trust, he's incredibly affectionate and loyal.

Cupid loves to take walks and play fetch with his toys.

“He's a smart, energetic guy who will thrive with structure and consistency,” Serena said.

“He does need a secure home because this clever boy can jump fences and sneak out of open doors if given the chance.”

Cupid is housebroken (but might need a quick refresher) and does okay in a crate for short periods.

He walks on a leash, but can be strong, so continued training will help.

Cupid's ideal family means that he would be the only pet in the home (no cats) with an active and patient adopter.

“Cupid has been in the shelter too long and it's starting to wear on him; he just needs a chance,” Serena said.

Cupid is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.

Yogurt Puff is a two to three-year-old domestic shorthair with a soft heart and chatty personality.

“He may take a few days to settle in, but once he's comfortable, he's all about the pets and attention,” Serena said.

“He's not big on being held, but he'll happily soak up all the love on his own terms.”

Yogurt Puff uses the litter box like a pro and has done well around other cats.

He is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.
