Plans for Stephenville’s first-ever lighted Christmas parade have grown to include fireworks and the official lighting of the city’s Christmas tree.

Julie Lowrance, one of the event organizers, said there are more than 40 parade entries.

The deadline to sign up is Nov. 20.

The ChristmasVille Light up Stephenville Parade is happening at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 28.

City councilman Ricky Thurman will serve as the official emcee, announcing the lighted parade entries as they “float” by.

A special guest – Santa Claus – will ride in the parade, then take part in the tree lighting ceremony at the downtown plaza where snacks and hot chocolate will also be for sale.

The festivities will end with a rooftop fireworks show.

To enter the parade or become a volunteer, email Julie Lowrance at framesetc@gmail.com or call 254-592-7404 or call Julie Crouch Smith at 254-552-1222.
