The Motherlode: What to buy, where to celebrate mom on Mother’s Day. (And it’s all local!)

You know it’s Mother’s Day on Sunday, right?

As in May 14.

If you still need a gift for mom, Scott’s Flowers on the Square is the unofficial headquarters for spreading love.

I spoke with co-owner James Kimbel about the upcoming holiday and he said it’s shaping up to be a big one.

“Lots of orders have already been placed,” James told Beneath the Surface News. “We will be stocked with all of mom’s favorite flowers for a classic fresh arrangement.

“Add on one of our transporting candles by Portal Parfums, or our very popular J Alexander silver and turquoise boxes. We also have a great assortment of yummy chocolates by Sweet Shop USA and if mom likes plants, we make beautiful European blooming baskets.”

Here’s a list of other great ideas on how you can make this year’s celebration one she’ll remember.

And the best part? All of the events and gift ideas can be found right here in Erath County.

Because, well, #shoplocal

THE GIFT OF BEAUTY

Mom likes to looks good, but let’s face it, she spends a lot of time taking care of you, leaving little time for herself.

So why not pamper her?

Pure Image is offering a special deal this week that includes buy one syringe of filler, get a second syringe half off and buy 20 units of Botox, get 10 free.

Seriously, this is a deal you can’t pass up!

The offer is good from now through Friday, May 12.

ENJOY AN AFTERNOON AT LUCKY VINES VINEYARD AND WINERY

Moms like wine. Trust me on this.

So make plans to spend Mother’s Day afternoon at Lucky Vines Vineyard & Winery where you will find a mimosa and waffle bar, flowers, photo corner (you know how much mom loves pictures) and high tea and cookies.

There will be $2 off wine tastings and 20% off all wine by the bottle and glass.

Oh, and Holli Garet will play from 3-5 p.m. (Moms love her too!)

TAKE MOM TO BRUNCH

This is a given: Mom shouldn’t have to cook on Sunday and Newton’s Saddlerack will keep the family from starving to death.

The downtown Stephenville restaurant will serve brunch from 10 a.m.- 1 p.m. (We went to the Cinco de Mayo brunch last weekend and it was fabulous.)

The Mother’s Day menu will include mimosas, surf and turf, fried artichoke, shrimp and Oaxaca cheese grits, cowboy benedict, southwestern Caesar salad, creme brulee French toast and Asian BBQ seared mahi mahi with rice noodle salad tossed in a Thai peanut sauce.

Sound delicious? Make your reservation here.

So there you go!

Make your mom's day a special one! She deserves it!
