Tarleton PD offering women free course on sexual harassment and rape prevention. Sign up now.

The Tarleton Police Department is offering a course specifically designed to help women protect themselves against sexual harassment and rape.

“While Tarleton PD and our other law enforcement colleagues always strive for quick response times, we also understand the importance of being able to take care of yourself if placed in imminent danger,” Tarleton Police Chief Matt Welch told Beneath the Surface News. “This class is not just for our female Tarleton students, but for our entire community.”

The free S.H.A.R.P. course will be offered on two separate nights – from 6-10 p.m. on Sept. 8 and Sept. 9.

The four-hour course will include one hour of training on the Texas Penal Code (self-defense), striking techniques, ground techniques and application.

The class is open to females 16 and older. Minors must have parental consent.

Officer Blessed Matai will be the course instructor.

You can register by emailing police@tarleton.edu.
