Tarleton PD offering self-defense course for women. Here’s how to register.

The Tarleton Police Department is offering a self-defense class specifically designed for women.

The course is free and open to female Tarleton students and women in the community.

It will be taught by Tarleton police officer Blessed Matai who also does a live self-defense demonstration on the Beneath the Surface News Facebook page every other Friday.

“This four-hour course has been specifically designed to meet the needs of women when control and assault prevention methods are required,” Matai said. “Principles and strategies for effectively reducing the likelihood of assault through actual techniques of countering an attack are stressed in this course.”

The class will be held from 6-10 p.m. on Monday, April 18, inside Tarleton’s volleyball gym.

You can register by emailing police@tarleton.edu.
