T.J. Maxx is coming to Stephenville; joining Hobby Lobby, Ulta and Five Below in new power center.

Shopping in Stephenville just keeps getting better.

T.J. Maxx has signed to join the growing lineup at Washington Commons, the largest retail development project in the city’s history.

The popular retailer will join Hobby Lobby, Ulta Beauty and Five Below at the area’s newest power center, which broke ground earlier this week next to Walmart on Washington Street.

With more than 150,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space, Washington Commons is expected to open in the first quarter of 2022.

“Many will view 2020 as a challenging year, however, this commitment by another national brand amplifies the point that Stephenville is still a vibrant, attractive place to invest and thrive,” said Jeff Sandford, executive director of the Stephenville Economic Development Authority, told Beneath the Surface News.

“I can’t emphasize enough the hard work of the city’s leadership, from Allen Barnes and his staff, to the city council, to make sure there was a clear path for this investment to happen.

“The developers have remained steadfast in their commitment to our market and have navigated the rough waters of this pandemic to keep these popular brands in the lineup.”
