If feeding your family grain-finished beef free of antibiotics and added hormones is high on your list of priorities, you’re in luck.

Cade Richmond Hay, Land & Cattle in De Leon is now selling whole, ½ and ¼ sides of beef.

Cade and Jessica Richmond own the Comanche County ranch.

“Every animal wears an EID tag that records its life from birth to packaging,” Jessica told Beneath the Surface News.

“The animals were born, raised, grazed and grain-finished all on our farm.”

Jessica began researching healthier food options when she developed some health issues.

“After struggling so long with autoimmune and long covid, I’ve become very interested with what we eat and the preservatives and other additives in our foods,” she said.

“What I have learned is that we are what we eat, eats.”

The family began raising their own beef because they needed traceability in their food and peace of mind.

Now they’re sharing it.

A USDA inspected mobile butcher is scheduled to process calves on their De Leon ranch Oct. 21-22.

Only six steers are available and the meat must be picked up on the same day.

All of the meat is cut and packaged before customers take it home.

The only difference is the meat will be wet-aged in a refrigerator rather than hung and aged in an off-site meat locker or freezer.

“The meat will come with instructions on how that’s done,” Jessica said.
