Strawberry chocolate chip scones for your Valentine’s Day breakfast.

If you’re looking to make a sweet treat to start your Valentine’s Day celebration, this recipe for strawberry chocolate chip scones is perfect.

 

(And they pair nicely with a hot cup of coffee.)


 

WHAT YOU NEED

 

2 cups flour

 

1/3 cup granulated sugar 

 

1/4 tsp salt 

 

1 tablespoon baking powder 

 

 

1/2 cup salted butter (cold)

 

1/2 cup heavy cream 

 

1 egg

 

2 tsp vanilla 

 

About five chopped strawberries 

 

Handful of mini chocolate chips 

 

A few tablespoons of granulated sugar to sprinkle on top

 

 

HOW TO MAKE THEM

 

Preheat oven to 400 degrees; clean counter surface really well.

 

In large bowl, mix all dry ingredients, then add cold butter into dry ingredients, mix to combine. 

 

In small bowl, whisk egg, vanilla and cream.

 

Pour into dry ingredients to combine, add strawberries and chocolate chips.


 

Place contents on floured surface and create a disk shape. Cut into equal triangles or use cookie cutter if you want to get fancy. 

 

Transfer to parchment-lined baking sheet and sprinkle with sugar.

 

Bake for approximately 20-25 minutes until golden brown. 

 

You can prepare a glaze of powdered sugar and heavy cream, but it’s plenty delicious without it.
