If you’re looking to make a sweet treat to start your Valentine’s Day celebration, this recipe for strawberry chocolate chip scones is perfect.
Â
(And they pair nicely with a hot cup of coffee.)
Â
WHAT YOU NEED
Â
2 cups flour
Â
1/3 cup granulated sugarÂ
Â
1/4 tsp saltÂ
Â
1 tablespoon baking powderÂ
Â
Â
1/2 cup salted butter (cold)
Â
1/2 cup heavy creamÂ
Â
1 egg
Â
2 tsp vanillaÂ
Â
About five chopped strawberriesÂ
Â
Handful of mini chocolate chipsÂ
Â
A few tablespoons of granulated sugar to sprinkle on top
Â
Â
HOW TO MAKE THEM
Â
Preheat oven to 400Â degrees; clean counter surface really well.
Â
In large bowl, mix all dry ingredients, then add cold butter into dry ingredients, mix to combine.Â
Â
In small bowl, whisk egg, vanilla and cream.
Â
Pour into dry ingredients to combine, add strawberries and chocolate chips.
Â
Place contents on floured surface and create a disk shape. Cut into equal triangles or use cookie cutter if you want to get fancy.Â
Â
Transfer to parchment-lined baking sheet and sprinkle with sugar.
Â
Bake for approximately 20-25 minutes until golden brown.Â
Â
You can prepare a glaze of powdered sugar and heavy cream, but it’s plenty delicious without it.
