Saturday's Optimist Club auction and dinner benefits area youth. You should go.



The Stephenville Optimist Club will host its 49th annual dinner and auction on Saturday, Oct. 2, inside T-Bird’s at Melody Mountain Ranch.


The event will include live entertainment from comedian and songwriter William Lee Martin.


The fun will begin at 5 p.m. with a social hour and live music by KJ & The Crooners, followed by a buffet dinner (choice of chicken or prime rib) prepared by Chef Nick and Jessica Pugh with Salt Horse Culinary at 6 p.m. and a performance by Martin at 7 p.m.


The evening will end with a live auction and raffle.


Raffle tickets are $25 each and include a chance to win an iRobot Roomba (value $500), Mossberg Patriot 270 rifle with scope (value $570), Predator 9000 watt generator and cart (value $900) and John Deere lawn care package from Bramlett Implement (value $2,000).


Tickets to the event are $50 each and sponsorship tables are available for $1,000, which includes eight seats, eight drink tickets and eight raffle tickets, along with sponsorship recognition.


The annual auction is the club’s largest fundraiser of the year.


Silent auction items will include a Weber Grill with outdoor grilling package, Yeti Roadie 24 with Yeti drinkware and a homemade quilt from vintage Yellow Jacket and Honeybee T-shirts.


Live auction items include an in-home cooking demo and dinner for six from Salt Horse Culinary valued at $1,000, suite tickets to the Dallas Cowboys and four tickets to Texas Motor Speedway.


Proceeds benefit area youth organizations like All Stars League, Toys for Kids, academic scholarships, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Erath County Junior Livestock Show.
