Ragin’ Cajun announces this year’s ‘celebrity’ wait teams; opens ticket sales.

One of Stephenville’s most popular events is back after being sidelined by the pandemic last year.

The Cross Timbers Fine Art Council’s Ragin' Cajun is happening from 6-9 p.m. Saturday, March 27, at City Hall at City Limits.

“We were just two weeks away from Ragin' Cajun last March when everything shut down due to Covid-19,” CTFAC executive director Christine Newton told Beneath the Surface News. “We are grateful to be able to host the event again this year, and will, of course, have limited seating and practice social distancing as well as having other safety protocols in place.”

Dinner will include crawfish, boiled shrimp and all the fixings along with a silent auction with items from local businesses like Caam’s, Willow’s Scarlet Ribbon, Blue Flamingo and Baby Clay’s.

Individual tickets are $100 each and tables of eight are $750.

“Tables tend to sell out quickly for this event,” board president Kelijon Nance said. “We encourage our guests to purchase tables as soon as possible to make sure they have a seat.”

Tickets can be purchased by calling CTFAC at 254-965-6190, clicking here or from any of the waiter teams.

And speaking of waiter teams, CTFAC is continuing its long-standing tradition of having local “celebrities” team up to compete to raise the most money by selling tables, collecting items for the silent auction and working for tips on the night of the event.

This year’s teams include (me!) Sara Vanden Berge and Lisa Pendleton; Stephanie and Chris Moore; Tiffany Ivey and Haley Acker; Emily Moore and Adam Wylie, Jennifer England and Rosa Sifuentes; Valkyrie Mykelbbust and Taylor Barnes; and Brad and Lynn Hart.

Proceeds from the event are used to fund local art activities and programs, concerts, exhibits and youth camps.
