One man dead in officer-involved shooting in Stephenville’s Tanglewood neighborhood.

There was a massive police presence at a home in the Tanglewood area of Stephenville late Tuesday afternoon.

At the time, Captain Jeremy Lanier with the Stephenville Police Department told Beneath the Surface News that there was an “active scene,” but declined to say more.

Early Wednesday morning, the SPD released the following statement:

"At approximately 5:30 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 1400 block of Parkwood Court for a report of a suicidal individual.

“Officers attempted to communicate with the individual for an extended period of time.

“The individual exited the residence armed with a handgun and pointed it at responding officers.

"Officers discharged their firearms, striking the individual.

“The subject was pronounced deceased at the scene.

“No officers or members of the public were injured.

“The Texas Rangers are investigating the officer-involved shooting.

“The involved officers have been placed on administrative leave in accordance with department policy.”
