Stephenville is getting another new restaurant. Yay!
Buzzi’s Pizzeria (named after Ruth Buzzi) is slated to open on McNeill Street in Stephenville in mid-December. (Where BJ’s Restaurant was located.)
Owner Mark Bryant is currently serving up his delicious food from Buzzi’s Food Truck parked right in front of the new restaurant.
The food truck is open from 11:30 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Friday, and if you want a taste of what’s to come next month, stop by and check it out.
Mark specializes in dishing up cool sandwiches like buffalo chicken, the Reuben, cheeseburgers, patty melts and Philly cheesesteak - all served with a side of fries.
During Monday’s cold snap, Buzzi’s warmed up its customers with a grilled cheese/chicken sandwich and side of hot tomato basil soup for just $12.
“I am very well known for the Reuben because I make my own pastrami,” Mark told Beneath the Surface News.
“I go through about three briskets a week. My burgers are popular too because the meat is so good; I get it from The Purple Tractor. I use local whenever I can.”
Buzzi’s Pizzeria will continue serving its food truck cult favorites, but the menu will expand to include pizza made with buffalo mozzarella, stromboli and pasta.
“I call it ‘authentic Italian Texas meals,’” Mark said.
Intrigued? So am I.
Mark is an interesting guy.
He moved from Colorado to Stephenville with his family in April.
“I had a very successful pretzel company in Colorado Springs,” he said. “I made 15,000 to 20,000 pretzels a week by hand.”
His life changed, he said, when he met James Andrae with Capital Hatters at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo.
“I bought a hat from him and we started talking about Stephenville and rodeo, and he told me to check out the area, so we did,” Mark said.
His daughter enrolled in Tarleton State University and moved to the area first.
“She called and said she missed my cooking so my wife and I moved here,” he said.
“We fell in love with Stephenville; the people here are amazing.”
Mark is going to let me know when Buzzi’s Pizzeria is set to officially open, so stay tuned.
Meanwhile, check out the food truck. You won’t be disappointed.
