A growing national movement focused on developing the next generation of leaders is making a local impact this month through the Maxwell Global Youth Initiative, a program designed to equip, inspire, and empower young people with essential leadership skills.

The initiative mobilizes Maxwell Leadership Certified Trainers to meet youth where they are: inside schools, churches and community centers.

By bringing training directly into these environments, the program removes barriers to access and creates meaningful, real-time learning experiences for students across diverse communities.

“The goal is simple but powerful: meet young people where they are and give them tools they can use immediately,” said JJ Conway, a Maxwell Leadership certified coach and local program facilitator.

“We’re not just talking about leadership in theory. We’re helping students navigate real-life challenges with confidence, clarity, and purpose.”

The program focuses on practical leadership development, emphasizing communication, confidence, character and decision-making.

Through interactive sessions, students gain real-world skills to address issues such as bullying, anxiety, lack of direction, exposure to violence and the pressures of social media.

“Today’s youth are facing more pressure and complexity than ever before,” Conway said.

“When we equip them with the right mindset and skillset, we’re not just changing individual lives. We’re strengthening families, schools and entire communities.”

Since its inception, the Maxwell Global Youth Initiative has reached more than 2.4 million young people worldwide, reflecting its growing impact and relevance for communities committed to investing in youth development.

Previous years’ GYI events have been held at the Tarleton Planetarium and the Cross Timbers Fine Arts Council Splatter Room.

Organizations interested in hosting a youth leadership session or learning more about the program are encouraged to contact JJ Conway at 254-454-HOPE or email janine@jjconway.org.
