Say hi to Maizel.
Say hi to Maizel.

One of this week’s featured pets up for adoption at the Erath County Humane Society is Maizel, a six to seven-year-old mixed breed that has been at the shelter since May 2024.

“Maizel is a loving, people-oriented girl who's been waiting far too long for her second chance,” ECHS executive director Serena Wright told Beneath the Surface News.

“She was surrendered when her family welcomed a new baby and could no longer keep her. Since then, she's been nothing but sweet to every person she meets.”

Maizel has never met a stranger and happily hands out kisses to anyone willing to receive them.

Her previous home reported that she did great with kids and enjoyed playing with other dogs.

But in the shelter, Maizel has shown some reactivity toward other dogs.

“We believe the stressful kennel environment may be a factor, but a meet-and-greet with any resident dogs will be essential to ensure a good match,” Serena said.

Maizel is spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm negative and on prevention.

Noogit

Noogit is a two to three-year old female cat with a grumpy, but charming personality.

“One moment she's purring and begging for pets, and the next, she’s reminding you that petting is a privilege,” Serena said.

“Then a quick head-butt, maybe a hiss, and she's gone to sulk in a sunny window spot.”

Noogit arrived at the shelter as a stray and was never reclaimed.

She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and dewormed.

Come meet Noogit - she might just let you pet her... if she's in the mood.
