Little cat with big personality and food insecurity is among this week’s featured pets.

With ongoing rain, conditions at the Erath County Humane Society remain wet and crowded, making animal adoptions more important than ever.

One of this week’s featured pets is Ella, a one-year-old female cat that is litter box-trained and dog-friendly.

“She is friendly with children and strangers,” ECHS executive director Serena Wright told Beneath the Surface News. “She packs a lot of personality into a small package, but does have some lingering food insecurities.

“She is always on the lookout for a tasty morsel so hold onto your sandwich.”

Shiner is a two to three-year-old mixed breed.

“He is shy at first, but with patience, he will warm up,” Serena said, adding that he will not fit into just any household.

Shiner is not overly-friendly with other dogs and gets scared walking with a leash, so a harness is recommended.

Shiner is neutered, fully vaccinated and on heart worm medication.

Ella and Shiner are both microchipped.

You can meet them and the other 84 dogs, 92 cats and three hamsters at the animal shelter located at 891 East Road in Stephenville.
