One of this week’s featured pets up for adoption at the Erath County Humane Society is Kris, a sweet mama cat that loves attention.

“Kris came to us as a stray with her kittens, and now that her babies are weaned, she's officially retired from motherhood and ready to enjoy a life that's all about her,” ECHS executive director Serena Wright told Beneath the Surface News.

“She is what you might call your stereotypical cat. She enjoys attention and affection, but only when she's in the mood.”

This independent lady appreciates personal space and is perfectly content doing her own thing.

If you're looking for a cat who won't demand constant cuddles or follow you around every second of the day, Kris might be your perfect match.

So far, Kris hasn't been too fond of her feline neighbors at the shelter, so she may be happiest as the only pet in the home.

She is spayed, fully vaccinated and pending a microchip.

Pocket is a happy, bouncy girl full of personality, energy and love who also came in as a stray.

“She’s always excited to meet new people and is ready to make friends wherever she goes,” Serena said.

“During her time in foster care, Pocket proved just how wonderful she can be in a home environment. She did great with other dogs, children and even horses.”

She does not do well with cats, so a feline-free home will be necessary.

Pocket is crate trained and has no issues being left alone, making her a great companion for a family with a busy schedule.

She also rides nicely in a car and does well with grooming.

She is making great progress with potty training, although she may still need some consistency as she adjusts to a new home.

“This girl is super smart and eager to learn,” Serena said.

“She does have a habit of jumping up when she's excited, but her foster noticed improvement the longer she stayed with them.

“With continued training and consistency, Pocket should continue to develop her manners. She also walks on a leash but tends to pull, so some additional leash training would be beneficial.”

When it comes to playtime, Pocket is all in.

She loves playing fetch and chasing balls and will happily spend her days running around and playing with her favorite people.

Pocket is spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, heartworm

negative and on prevention.
