If you've ever wanted to learn Mahjong, now’s your chance. Sets and classes now available at Venture19.
The first time I learned about Mahjong was when I watched Crazy Rich Asians.
The scene introduced many Americans to the popular Chinese game that’s played with sets of tiles.
There are several variations to Mahjong including an American version, and if you’ve ever been curious about it, you’re in luck.
Venture19 in Stephenville is now carrying gorgeous sets of the game.
Owner Katy Copeland purchased the Mahjong sets, which retail for about $500, after it became popular among groups of women in the Metroplex.
“It’s created a trend to start playing and having game nights, similar to what people do with Bunco,” Katy told Beneath the Surface News.
And here’s the exciting part: The ladies who founded the Dallas Mahjong Club (who host monthly game nights for 100 people) will set up at Venture19 to teach ladies how to play.
You can sign up for Mahj 101 and Mahj 102 on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 in Stephenville.
Classes are $75 per person with a maximum of 20.
Don’t forget that Christmas is just around the corner and these sets would make a wonderful gift!
