Hold on to your hat! Rodeo Heritage Week set to kick off Friday. Here's what you need to know.
The Cowboy Capital of the World PRCA Rodeo is set to begin by celebrating Erath County’s heritage with a week-long slate of exciting events beginning this weekend.
The rodeo will take place Sept. 24, 25 and 26 at Lone Star Arena in Stephenville, but first there’s Rodeo Heritage Week.
Here’s a look at what’s happening:
FRIDAY, SEPT. 17
• 7 p.m. - Cowboy Capital/Lonestar Barbecue Society BBQ Cook-Off at Park Your Pony Arena.
SATURDAY, SEPT. 18
• 8 a.m. - Cowboy Capital/Lonestar Barbecue Society BBQ Cook-Off at Park Your Pony Arena. • 09 a.m. - Miss Cowboy Capital Pro Rodeo Queen Contest Horsemanship at Cowboy Church of Erath County Arena.
• 10 a.m. - Cowboy Capital of the World County Team Roping at Park Your Pony Arena.
• 3 p.m. - Registration Opens for Dummy Roping, & Mutton Busting at Park Your Pony Arena.
• 4 p.m. - Dummy Roping
• 5:30 p.m. - McCoy’s Mutton Bustin

• 1 p.m. - Miss Cowboy Capital Pro Rodeo Queen Contest Speech/Modeling/Impromptu at The N at Hard Way Ranch

• 9 a.m. - PRCA Timed Event Slack at Lone Star Arena
• 7 p.m. - PRCA Rodeo Performance 1 presented by First Financial Bank, “American Patriot Night- Honoring all those who serve!” at Lone Star Arena
SATURDAY, SEPT. 25
• 7:30 a.m. - Cowboy Capital 5K at Stephenville City Park
• 10 a.m. - Rodeo Heritage Parade (route begins at Stephenville City Park to downtown square and back to park)
• 11:30 a.m. - Special Kids Rodeo at Lone Star Arena
• 7 p.m. PRCA Rodeo Performance 2 presented by The Hay & Feed Ranch/Oxy-Gen, Inc., “It’s Gonna Get Western Night!” with Jake Hooker & The Outsiders at Lone Star Arena.
SUNDAY, SEPT. 25

You can purchase rodeo tickets at Capital Hatters, Chick Elms Grand Entry Western Store, Saddle Rags and Bradberrys’s Best.
Advance tickets for adults are $12 ($15 at the door), kids ages 6-12 are $8 ($10 at the door) and children five and younger are admitted for free.
