Erath County Judge Brandon Huckabee announced Friday that Greg Hamilton will fill the vacancy in the office of precinct 4 commissioner following the unexpected passing of Jim Buck in September.

“I want to sincerely thank the citizens of precinct 4 and all of Erath County for your patience as I worked through this difficult decision,” Huckabee said in his announcement.

“I also want to express my appreciation to each individual who expressed interest in serving. I do not take lightly the willingness of so many to step forward and serve our county.

“I look forward to working alongside Mr. Hamilton as he steps into this important role. I am confident he will work hard to represent the citizens of precinct 4 and serve the best interests of all of Erath County.”

Hamilton is currently an insurance agent with Texas Farm Bureau.

“I am extremely privileged to get to serve this community, I really am,” Hamilton told Beneath the Surface News.

“I believe this is a full-time position and I plan to take care of it as it’s supposed to be taken care of.”

Hamilton’s appointment begins Nov. 12, and he will serve the remainder of the current term ending Dec. 31.

After that Judge Huckabee will make an appointment through the next general election in 2028.
