The former director of Dublin ISD’s information and technology department was arrested Wednesday for allegedly stealing more than $1 million from the school district.

Craig Parks was reportedly taken into custody while at his job in Glen Rose on Wednesday.

He has been charged with making a false statement property/credit over $300,000, theft of services over $300,000 and money laundering over $300,000.

He is being held at the Erath County Jail on a $150,000 bond.

According to a 12-page complaint filed by Texas Ranger B.J. Hill and obtained by Beneath the Surface News, Parks’ scheme to bilk money from the district began in 2019.

Parks, who had served as Dublin ISD’s IT director since 2013, resigned in July 2025 to accept a position with Glen Rose ISD.

The complaint states that on Aug. 6, Dublin Police Chief Cameron Ray contacted the Texas Rangers asking for assistance with the investigation.

It states that Chief Ray was first contacted by Dublin ISD Superintendent Melissa Summers regarding concerns involving Parks.

“Upon hiring new IT Director, Drew Wiederkehr, review of Parks' former district-issued computer revealed questionable activity and documents,” the complaint states.

“Further examination of the computer by Wiederkehr revealed documentation indicating that Parks had established company named VoIP4EDU, LLC, registered in New Mexico.

“At the time of this discovery, VoIP4EDU had been receiving payments for IT services completed at the district.”

Further documentation, according to the affidavit, showed that Parks was the sole member of VoIP4EDU.

Chief Ray requested that the school district provide information on payments made to VoIP4EDU, which revealed that Dublin ISD paid the company $156,867 in 2022, $107,300 in 2023, $198,412 in 2024 and $95,425 between September 2024 and June 2025 under the guise of IT services.

The investigation later determined that a hard drive was missing from the computer which showed that Parks’ personal account received $1,110,330.64 of deposits or credits with $1,077,242.12 coming directly from Dublin ISD.

“The banking activity linked to this account does not appear to be that of legitimate business. The transactions show all the money being moved between multiple banking institutions, including First National Bank Dublin, Coinbase, Wells Fargo and Citizens National Bank,” the complaint states.

Following Parks' arrest, Glen Rose ISD issued a statement saying the district has placed him on administrative leave.

Beneath the Surface News will not attach the 12-page complaint to the story because it includes addresses, banking and personal information pertaining to the accused.

This is a developing story…
