Special to Beneath the Surface News
Faith Lutheran Church will host its annual FaithFest from 5-7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28, at the Faith Family Center located at 3000 Northwest Loop in Stephenville.
FaithFest, which celebrates the German, Norwegian and Scandinavian heritage, has been a community event for more than 40 years. The event is patterned after the German Oktoberfest, which was first celebrated in 1810.
Authentic German food will be served including Wiener schnitzel, bratwurst, sauerkraut, red cabbage, hot German potato salad, rolls and dessert. Carry-out is available as well as a child’s menu.
There will also be a silent auction and display of family artifacts in the Heritage Room representing items from Germany, Norway, Sweden and other European countries.
Some of the items in the Heritage Display include nativity collections, German steins, Swedish memorabilia, quilts and photos.
The Oompah Band will perform German music while patrons enjoy dinner. The band will also provide the opportunity to dance the popular “Chicken Dance.”
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 4-10. Children 3 and under eat free.
Tickets can be purchased by calling the church office at 254-968-2710 or at the door.
