We've been dining at The Chop House located inside the historic Midland Hotel in Hico for several years now.

Like many of you, COVID has kept us away from eating out in recent months, but my wife and I had a chance to go back for dinner last week – and it was incredible.


I ordered the creole shrimp and grits, something I order nearly every time. The sauce was bold and had a small kick, and the shrimp was seasoned to perfection.

Ashley ordered the chicken fried beef tenderloin, and that’s now her new favorite.

The chef makes the best gravy I've ever had, and the tenderloin was so tender that you could cut it with a fork.

Make plans to enjoy a delicious meal at The Chop House, and when you go, try the filet with mushroom ragout and stacked au gratin potatoes. It's one of the best sauces you’ll ever have with a steak.

The Chop House also has a full bar and extensive wine list.
