If you need a little music to jazz up your week, head to Stephenville High School on Thursday, March 15, to catch the jazz ensemble’s final lunch performance of the year.

The lunch will be held from 12:40-1:10 p.m. and music will begin at 12:45.

All you have to do is show up, sign in at the front desk and head to the band hall.

The SHS jazz ensemble competed in its final competition of the year at the East FW Jazz Festival last weekend and was selected as “Outstanding 4A Band.”

“This is our second time to be picked as the outstanding 4A at this contest,” Michael Childs, SHS’s director of bands, told Beneath the Surface News.

Five members of the jazz ensemble received outstanding musician awards: Rudi Cochran - alto saxophone, Josh Watts - trombone, Austin Atchley, Everett Erb and Rhett Harrison - percussion.

So stop by Thursday afternoon and catch some great jazz.
