Erath County voters who want to learn more about candidates running for office have a chance to meet a man who wants your vote in the race for Justice of the Peace.

Greg Evans is running for JP for precincts 1, 3 and 4 and he is hosting a meet-and-greet at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 19, at Hard Eight BBQ.

“This is an opportunity for Erath County residents to stop by, get to know me and ask questions about my candidacy,” Evans told Beneath the Surface News.

He is one of four Republican candidates running for the position, currently held by Judge Shawnee Bass who is not seeking re-election.

Evans has spent his entire career in law enforcement, with 36 of those years at the Dallas Police Department where he worked as a detective sergeant overseeing property recovery; administrative planning sergeant with Homeland Security/SWAT; supervisor of field training programs and as an active shooter response supervisor.

He also worked as a full-time and reserve deputy at the Erath County Sheriff’s Office.

As he now turns his attention to the upcoming Republican Party Primary on March 1, his focus is on meeting as many voters as possible.

“This meet-and-greet is a come-and-go event,” he said. “We wanted to have it at a family-friendly place so people could bring their kids.

“I’m looking forward to it.”

James Andrae is serving as his campaign treasurer.
