"You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough to suit me.” - C.S. Lewis
I have always had a love affair with books.
When I was young, I would save my babysitting money and go to Waldenbooks where I would purchase all the teeny bopper reads I could afford. (Think Sweet Valley High.)
Today, my love of reading is just as strong and I can get absolutely lost in a good mystery.
Not long ago I stumbled upon an author – Shari Lapena - while scouring a bookstore at the DFW Airport just before boarding a flight to Mexico.
I picked up her book, The Couple Next Door, and was immediately hooked.
The story is about a couple whose baby goes missing while they were having dinner with neighbors. The string of events that follow will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very last page.
Thankfully, the New York Times bestselling author, has written several others like A Stranger in the House and An Unwanted Guest (another great read that reminded me of my favorite childhood game – Clue).

MORE BOOKS I HAVE RECENTLY ENJOYED
1. THE LAST MRS. PARRISH BY LIV CONSTANTINE
This edge-of-your seat page-turner is nothing but pure fun. The mystery centers around a woman who wants what she can’t have.
The plain ol’ Amber Patterson wants to step into the shoes (and life) of glamorous Daphne Parrish, a woman who seems to have it all.
And just when you think you have the story line figured out – BAM – it throws you for a loop.
I couldn’t read it fast enough.
Like all good thrillers, the ending is something you will never see coming - and it will leave you with a satisfying sense that karma is a real thing.
2. JANE DOE BY VICTORIA HELEN STONE
An itch for revenge by a clever chameleon is the theme of this tense thriller.
Jane sets out to get even with an unsuspecting Steven Hepsworth who prefers his women with a heaping side of meekness.
After sneaking her way into his life, Jane reels Steven in with a devilish scheme, then wallops him with a plot she meticulously sets into motion.
Poor Steven never sees what’s coming until it’s too late.
And that’s half the fun.
3. FALSE STEP BY VICTORIA HELEN STONE
Yeah, I’m kinda hooked on books by Stone – and you will be too!
False Step is a story about secrets, lies and a missing child. Oh, and it’s got a twist of betrayal that will send your jaw straight to the floor!
