Say hi to Zeke!
Say hi to Zeke!

One of this week’s featured pets up for adoption at the Erath County Humane Society is Zeke, a one-year-old Shepherd/Lab mix.

“Zeke's life was turned upside down when his owners moved away and left him behind, but you'd never guess it from his cheerful spirit,” ECHS executive director Serena Wright told Beneath the Surface News.

“This friendly, excitable boy loves people and wants nothing more than to be part of the action.”

Zeke has a big heart and paws, which suggests he might still have some growing to do.

While he adores kids, his enthusiasm and size means he can accidentally knock over little ones, but with some training, he'll learn consistency, manners and how to channel his energy in the right way.

Zeke hasn't had much dog-to-dog socialization, so he can be a bit too exuberant with other pups.

But he is not aggressive and gets along with cats, chickens, ducks and even rabbits.

Zeke is housebroken and walks well on a leash.

“He'll stay in a crate, but will whine for a little while at first,” Serena said.

“Most of all, he loves to run and would thrive with an active family and a big yard to explore.”

Zeke is neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, heartworm negative and on prevention.

Drucilla is a five to six-month-old domestic shorthair.

“Drucilla came to us with her siblings in very rough shape - covered in fleas, battling ringworm and suffering from upper respiratory infections,” Serena said.

“After lots of care and recovery time, this sweet girl is now healthy, thriving and ready for a family of her own.”

Drucilla is part of a lively, adventurous bunch who love stealing attention from anyone who walks by.

She's known for reaching her little paw out of the kennel to snag unsuspecting visitors and she adores playtime with her siblings.

With her fun, curious nature, Drucilla is sure to keep her new family entertained and showered with affection.

Drucilla is fully vaccinated, spayed, dewormed and microchipped.
