With no rain in sight, county officials extend burn ban, and violating it could get you a ticket.

With no real rain in recent weeks (and nothing in the forecast), Erath County officials decided Monday to extend the burn ban indefinitely.

“The burn ban will remain in place until conditions improve, then we will revisit it,” Judge Alfonso Campos told Beneath the Surface News.

Under the ordinance, outdoor burning is a class C misdemeanor punishable by a $500 fine.
